I founded this law firm because of my own personal journey—one that begins with my grandfather, Joseph Dunkelgrun. Joe grew up during the Great Depression and lived through World War II. Like many of his generation, he built his own business through hard work, resilience, and a little luck. He was successful, but then tragedy struck. His daughter—my aunt—was killed by a drunk driver at a young age. After her death, he was never the same. He lost interest in the business and, more importantly, never took the time to plan for the future.
When he passed away, he left behind a struggling company and a large tax burden. My father and uncle inherited what was left and had to work hard to fix it. They rolled up their sleeves and, over time, managed to rebuild and grow the business. Things were finally looking up—they had young families, and the company was thriving.
But life had another twist in store. My father was diagnosed with cancer and given only a short time to live. One of the first things he did was get his affairs in order. He offered my uncle several options, and ultimately, my uncle bought him out. He also made sure that my siblings and I were financially supported, even leaving a stipend to help us through college.
These experiences shaped who I am and why I do what I do. I’ve seen both the pain of poor planning and the peace of mind that comes with doing it right. That’s why I’ve dedicated my career to helping families prepare for life’s unexpected turns—so they can protect what matters most.
